(Updated from a previous post.) I'm still working on the reflections post(s); it's been rough sledding in a number of spots. In the meantime, life has marched on, and stuff has indeed happened. Among them are new LJ-friends... welcome to [livejournal.com profile] weebaby, [livejournal.com profile] hersir, and [livejournal.com profile] sigkit!

Thursday before last was [livejournal.com profile] bronx_baroness's birthday, and there was a dinner gathering to celebrate, at which could be found the Birthday Baroness herself (I couldn't resist the alliteration), [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00, [livejournal.com profile] killernurd, [livejournal.com profile] montuos, moi, [livejournal.com profile] ext_42142, Carrie, [livejournal.com profile] visgoth, and [livejournal.com profile] stealthcomic. Then on Saturday the 19th, [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00, [livejournal.com profile] jacylrin, [livejournal.com profile] killernurd, [livejournal.com profile] montuos, and I gathered with a couple dozen others in Manassas for Fast Eddie Silverman's "Graduation Party" (Ed's term), marking his graduation from this life.

Monday the 21st I went to Alle Psallite rehearsal first, at which this banter was heard, which was later metaquoted; from there I went to Ludus. [livejournal.com profile] ext_42142 has started a blog for Ludus, which [livejournal.com profile] montuos has already pointed out *and* syndicated ([livejournal.com profile] ludus_gaming). I won the first two games played after I got there, mostly via other players making the plays *I* needed to win. Sic transit gloria Chrononauts, I guess.

Wednesday night I took three cases of empty beer bottles over to Bowie, with help from [livejournal.com profile] nostasia, so that she and [livejournal.com profile] cariola and [livejournal.com profile] herveus and the rest of the gang could clean and sterilize them and fill them with fresh brew. Some heraldry also happened, worked on by [livejournal.com profile] pedropadrao, [livejournal.com profile] blaisedec, myself, and [livejournal.com profile] sigkit. I've been working on the English translation of Racine's French translation of the Latin hymn text for the Fauré Cantique; any luck finding the original, [livejournal.com profile] jastaelf?

The long Memorial Day weekend was taken up with a visit to Pennsylvania. We got something of a late start heading up, and there seemed to be some lingering exhaustion the whole weekend. Other stuff happened, such that I didn't get to see everyone I'd have liked to, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I'm intrigued...

I'm trying for an English version that scans as the Racine (so it will fit Fauré's music), rhymes (same rhyme scheme as the Racine: ABAB CDCD EFEF), and still comes as close as possible to the original meaning. Of course, it would help with that last bit if I had a copy of the original Latin hymn, and not just Racine's translation.
