In the 114th renewal of the South's Oldest Rivalry, the William and Mary Tribe walked all over the U. of Richmond Spiders, 38-14. The game was not even that close: W&M (my alma mater) was up 38-0 after three quarters, then sent in the backups to get some field experience -- so UR's two touchdowns were scored during garbage time.

With the win, the Tribe ends the regular season in a 3-way tie for the Atlantic 10 Football Conference championship with Delaware (who beat W&M) and James Madison (who beat Delaware but lost to W&M). It went down to the FIFTH tie-breaker, but W&M won that and with it the automatic bid to the playoffs.

The Tribe has a realistic chance to gain a top four seed in the playoffs, which would give them a home game for at least the first two rounds. That would mean a playoff game in the 'Burg this coming Saturday... over Thanksgiving Weekend so all the students are gone! Do they think the *tourists* will come to the game? Anyway, the NCAA likes to keep costs down, so the likely opponent will be MEAC champ Hampton University, just a half-hour's bus ride up I-64. A win over Hampton would give W&M a 5-0 record against the other six Virginia squads playing I-AA football (having not played a *bad* Norfolk State team) and thus the unofficial Virginia State I-AA Championship.

Of course, having home playoff games means I want to be in the 'Burg... but I wanna go to the Darkover Grand Council Meeting this weekend too, and Atlantian Unevent next weekend. Arrrrrrrrrgh!

Anyone got a working Bilocation Machine I could borrow for a coupla weeks?
