Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mllw_yllw_cello, and Happy Birthday to today's Birthday Buddies [livejournal.com profile] maugorn and [livejournal.com profile] shalandara!

Hippo birdie two ewes (ya sure I shouldn't be spelling that "youse"?)
Hippo birdie two ewes
Hippo birdie deer ewes
Hippo birdie two ewes!

And for my first encore, here's a short excerpt of a song you probably know all too well... )
This is probably only funny to me but I'm posting it anyway: Gratuitous LJ Cut ) ...

*chuckle* ... [livejournal.com profile] liadan_m points out this hilarious review of a software "upgrade". I spent a chunk of last week helping someone strip Vista off her laptop and make it a dual-boot Xubuntu and XP machine; she indicated that, of all the software she needs to use that won't run on Linux, *NONE* of it worked under Vista.

I know the author was *going* for Totally Silly, and I still boggled at "Bacon Latte (Vegan)" in the background of today's Questionable Content.

Another set of Beatles recordings from the Star Club found. Doubtless this will become another album, and *of course* I'll end up buying it. But for the sake of my own collection I hope they release it on vinyl too.

NYC decides to clone 25 'historical' trees. I don't think "cloning" is the proper term here; after all, trying to get trees to have the same genetic makeup is a centuries old endeavor, and taking cuttings is the *standard* way of doing it. Still, I'm very happy to see this project get started.

The title of "Recession -- Who Cares?" seems a bit misleading to me. The article itself makes some good points, though I suspect the author is also lacking some critical clues (but not the same ones the economists lack).

North Vietnamese hoax calls and USA faked attacks were part of the Gulf of Tonkin incident that sparked US escalation in Vietnam. I've already read another article about this recently but can't remember where.
