Well, this past Saturday I did indeed go to Caid Crown Tourney. I discovered that Californians drive 80 MPH when they can so that their average speed is around 60; between road work, accidents, and border patrol checks, they spend too much time going zero MPH on the freeway, so the rest of the time they really zip along to make up for it. Got there before morning court, and got to go into Court when TRM of Caid invited someone to be elevated to the Order of the Pelican.

After court, the Pelicans were asked to hang around for a bit. I supplied TRM with some useful information: the right direction to walk to achieve their desired goal. So the Pelicans followed the Crown, and in the middle of the short edge of the fighting field, we found Jeanne Marie Lacroix, whom Their Majesties invited to consider elevation to the Pelicanate. She said yes, and requested that the ceremony take place in October. I was immensely pleased that I was able to be at the invitation, even if I can't make the elevation itself (at Great Western War).

During the Crown Tournament itself, I helped Illuminada with some heraldic consultation (she was running the table), and also heralded one field during the third round of the tourney. (Yes, my next quarterly report is going to be a little odd. Hee.) I also got to meet Vivienne, who had taken over half of the SquidPak for me ([livejournal.com profile] wanderingpixie had taken the other half) four-ish years ago. Other than that, I relaxed in the Poore House pavilion, where I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] mysryael; saw many folks (mostly Old Used Heralds, including [livejournal.com profile] cormac) that I hadn't seen in years; called [livejournal.com profile] sue_n_julia to give them JM's good news; and exchanged many hugs. This being a no-feast event, at least three dozen of us ended up at the same restaurant afterwards, where one of the better-known local SCAdians was celebrating her birthday.

So went my trip to Caid. 11 kingdoms down, 8 to go! ;-)
I have become resigned to the fact that public restrooms (including company washrooms) will generally stock liquid soap I wouldn't bring into my house. Our client's restroom is no exception. However...

Coconut-almond lotion soap is fairly common. But *HOT PINK* coconut-almond lotion soap? Is Just Wrong.
