YAMeme: Ten Things

My attempt at the 10 things I've done that most of my readers probably haven't. It's actually likely that for each item, one or two readers *have* also done it, but it's very unlikely that any one reader has done more than a couple.

1. Participated in a snowball fight on the 4th of July, in the Northern Hemisphere.
   
2. Replaced the hood on a car.
   
3. Went through the college housing lottery as a member of the opposite sex.
   
4. Had a thesis advisor who graded the wrong thesis through an administrative error. (Took me three months to discover the problem and four more to rectify the situation.)
   
5. Bent a 7-foot pine tree all the way to the ground when only 5 feet tall myself. (By accident. Ouch. Made a 90-degree bend in the first 9 inches of the trunk above ground. The tree eventually unbent itself, and survives to this day.)
   
6. At age 11, with friends of similar age, ran a fundraiser carnival WITHOUT benefit of a prepackaged kit; we didn't even get advice from anyone except our parents, who had never done anything like it before. (Our chosen charity had never heard of such a thing!)
   
7. Graduated at the top of my high school class. (With an outstanding unserved detention too.)
   
8. Sang notes in concert over a range of more than four octaves. (I didn't say all those notes were sung during the SAME concert...)
   
9. Played in the pit orchestra for the first-ever amateur production of Sweeney Todd. (Played all three trombone parts too.)
   
10. Explored the steam tunnels under the W&M campus and found a working campus phone inside them. (The statute of limitations has long since expired, so it's safe for me to mention it.)

I come close on #6. We had a street fair to raise money for the family across the street whose house had burned down and the kids did most of the organizing of the fun bits without benefit of adult supervision....

I come close on #8, but I don't *remember* ever actually getting to the B above high C...
