As related at the Storvik Post-Pennsic Revel.

Background: There used to be a department at Pennsic called "Security." Folks on patrol for this department liked to stop and ask people "Do you feel secure?" Well, this year that department was called "Public Safety" -- but I must say, "Do you feel publicly safe?" just DOESN"T have the right ring to it.

Story: Sometime earlyish during the second week, before Wednesday night when the rain started (again), I went down to my camp to get a cloak after sunset. It promised to be cold that night and I knew I'd want the cloak before I was finished up at Heralds Point. So on my way back towards the Point, I was heading up Horde Hill, and a guy in a cart was heading downhill towards me. But he stopped a little ways ahead of me, to ask folks at a nearby campfire "Do you feel secure?" (Okay, so he's Old School.)

The answer he got was apparently not committal enough, for he turned off the cart's engine, got out, and walked towards the campfire, ostensibly fo facilitate communications.

Please note that I did NOT say anything about him setting the parking brake on the cart... which promptly started rolling downhill, directly towards me. I and several folks around the campfire noticed this, and pointed this fact out to our cart driver. At some volume: "MILORD, YOUR CART!!!!!" He turned around and made a mad dash for the cart, jumping in and setting the brake before the cart could cause any damage.

And a voice from the campfire said "We feel perfectly secure..."

To which many voices followed up -- in chorus -- "BUT YOUR CART SURE DOESN'T!"
