The Mercenary Bass begins Lent

damontWednesday night at Sharon Chapel, the anthem was a barbershop arrangement of "Beneath the Cross of Jesus". Today we started with the Great Litany in full formal processional (in lieu of an opening hymn), and sang a German chorale arrangement of "Lamb of God Most Holy" for the anthem. I'll be going to choir practice this week, despite missing the next two Sundays: we're already working on the pieces for the end of Lent and Holy Week.
I was reminded this afternoon that this year is a multiple-of-5 anniversary of one of my most intense singing years ever. I'll probably post remembrances of some of the choral festivals as I have time; I've missed the actual anniversaries of two already (one was at the end of January, one was in late Feb).
