Well, having finally managed to get home late Thursday night, we proceeded to stay up late the next two nights as well -- went to the movies for a 10:15 show each night.

Friday night we went to see PotC: Dead Man's Chest. A fun movie. I'd seen enough reviews to know that we weren't getting another Curse of the Black Pearl, and so expectations weren't stratospheric. It was worth full admission once: as I said, much fun. But it is patently obvious that this was the first half of a two-part, 5-hour-plus epic... after 2 hours and 45 minutes, there have been a dozen or more plot threads introduced, and precisely *ZERO* of them are resolved. They left every single plot line hanging fire until resolution in the next film! Since the movies are based on a Disney ride, I'll steal and adapt [livejournal.com profile] hrj's line: you pay for an E-ticket ride, you get an E-ticket ride, and this one was exhilarating... but somehow we all got stranded in the middle of the ride, at the top of a hill, waiting for another set of cars to show up so we can *finish* the ride!

Saturday night we went to see Cars; among the group, only I hadn't seen it before. Pixar did *not* disappoint. Just the right mix of humor and pathos, and a totally sidesplitting closing-credits epilogue. There's not a whole lot more I can say without getting into spoilers... but it seems pretty obvious to me that the authors aren't the world's biggest fans of expressways.

Sunday was a short night as I had to get up and sing with Alle Psallite at St. Paul's Lutheran in Falls Church. I am happy to report that we sounded really good. I flubbed a syllable in the Alleluia, but I'd hit the right note so nobody noticed. The Sitientes came off very well, though as a group we still need to learn to pay attention to the director's tempo and not act like stereotypical drummers. A couple of people managed to keep getting us back in sync with [livejournal.com profile] carthew... Fair warning to basses in the Pennsic Choir: I'm gonna *pound* this into youse, that we will *all* pay attention to [livejournal.com profile] ariannawyn to make sure we stay on tempo!

And now it's time for me to get my resumé re-organized *again* and out to folks, and start packing for Pennsic. (And for War Camp this weekend.)
