Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] suba_al_hadid, I too have decided that late is better than never, so I'll start this recap all the way back at Southern Region War Camp, two weekends ago.

Well, I didn't get to see [livejournal.com profile] h3salthea (somehow our paths never did cross), nor [livejournal.com profile] edelweiss68, nor [livejournal.com profile] maccuswell (nor Sonja), nor [livejournal.com profile] blaecstan. Nor did I see RoKhan, but [livejournal.com profile] amykb informed me that Ro was in Florida; so I'm sorry [livejournal.com profile] liadan_m but carrying out your commission will have to wait until I actually *see* Ro...

I *did* get to see [livejournal.com profile] loosecanon a couple of times and introduced her to [livejournal.com profile] montuos (and vice versa). Also met [livejournal.com profile] baagvai and talked heraldry with him for a bit. We were camped effectively two tents away from [livejournal.com profile] siobhan1214 and [livejournal.com profile] merricke

(begin at the beginning...) We drove through a *serious* cow-p%$#@r of a storm for about 50 miles on I-78 heading to SRWC Friday night. It wasn't raining when we got to Troll, where we got to say hello to [livejournal.com profile] math5 as we waited in line. We also said hi to [livejournal.com profile] kyleri after checking in, and to [livejournal.com profile] fosveny a bit after that. We were unlucky in that the rain started up again as we were trying to unload stuff into the tent; this would have repercussions later, as some stuff didn't get unloaded at all, and what we *did* unload didn't really get organized. But the rain let up once we were done unloading, and we headed for the pool for a midnight swim.

Saturday morning I spent trying to impart some calm to various members of the event staff. Went on a supply run at noontide (among other things the toilets needed TP, even the flushies). Overheated a bit in the afternoon and jumped in the pool. I didn't miss all of court, but I did miss a lot of it, including waiting out a half hour downpour under [livejournal.com profile] suba_al_hadid's dayshade.

Sunday was clearer and cooler, a blessed mercy. I spent much of the day wandering, talking with friends and doing little things as needed. Got some sweet tea to [livejournal.com profile] amykb. While we were packing up camp [livejournal.com profile] mrgrumpybear came by with [livejournal.com profile] magpiemss and introduced her to us. Later on we dog-sat [livejournal.com profile] amykb's dog while [livejournal.com profile] fosveny and [livejournal.com profile] kyleri took her to get some food; this included yet another trip to the pool. Once they got back, we headed out; a stop at the City View Diner for dinner, and then the drive home.

Extra special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fosveny, [livejournal.com profile] kyleri, and [livejournal.com profile] amykb, as well as the rest of the staff for SRWC.

A big hello to [livejournal.com profile] bunnyjadwiga, [livejournal.com profile] maziemaus, [livejournal.com profile] juergen, [livejournal.com profile] alphaggek (and Shannon and Cat), [livejournal.com profile] herveus (and Megan), [livejournal.com profile] nazrynn, [livejournal.com profile] baronadhemar, [livejournal.com profile] ladypeyton, and [livejournal.com profile] melvh. I left the birch beer in the van, so my embarrassed apologies to [livejournal.com profile] siobhan1214 (along with [livejournal.com profile] suba_al_hadid and [livejournal.com profile] math5) -- we'll just have to try again at some point.

This past weekend, [livejournal.com profile] montuos and I traveled up to Casa Gallowglass in Aston PA, to deliver carpets unto [livejournal.com profile] alphaggek (for use at Pennsic) and to help Cat unload the bus. A half dozen people unloaded stuff and hauled it up the hill into the house (or just stuck it in the garage). [livejournal.com profile] suba_al_hadid came by for a while too, though she missed the schlepping. It was hot and humid, though we did get a breeze at times -- and I've gotten a reminder of what Pennsic *could* be like, though I hope it'll be not quite so hot, and *definitely* hoping for less humid.

Yesterday, for a change of pace we had a visit *from* PA -- my sister [livejournal.com profile] wednesday1971 and her husband John (whose birthday it was) were in the area, so we had dinner with them. Might get to see them again this evening... but for now it's back to Pre-Pennsic Panic.
