Rain on Kinsale Day
Sep. 16th, 2006 06:57 pmWe're here at Ayrfield, where
montuos grew up, and where her mother also grew up (and still lives). Her brother and his wife are also here (with their dog Winston), as are
killernurd,
asaia, Tony's cousin Rhett and his mother. And the wireless access here works with my laptop! Woo!
This morning and lunchtime we went to the village of Kinsale, only a couple of miles away, where today was held the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the chartering of the town by the Virginia General Assembly. We then repaired back to Ayrfield for a while... just in time, as it turned out. The forecast had said "today: 40 per cent chance of light showers." They didn't say anything about "this afternoon: 100 percent alternating light drizzle and vertical torrential downpour". Who invited Rob McKenna to Kinsale Day? If it clears up, there are supposed to be fireworks this evening. I suspect we're doomed to disappointment.
