Today's term
Jan. 25th, 2007 12:14 pmCarlin point (n). That level of liquid in a container which is so low as to be insufficient for drinking by itself, making one wonder why the last person to use it didn't just finish off the %$#@! bottle/carton in the first place.
Named after comedian George Carlin, for this part of his routine "Ice Box Man":
"Got to tell me, in the refrigerator who is it, please, that puts into the refrigerator the half-gallon containers of milk with only thaaaat much left in them?" [holds thumb and forefinger about half a centimeter apart] "I get one of those every time!" [Mimes opening the fridge door, grabbing the milk carton and lifting it with the force needed for a mostly-full carton, thus causing his hand to fly up over his head] "'Hey, here's some mil-whoooah!'" [mimes looking inside the carton] "'God, not enough to drink, better put that back!'"
