Short version for now...

We were at a Scout camp out in the hills of the western Shenandoah Valley. Duke Logan won the tournament, and now [livejournal.com profile] bronx_baroness is Crown Princess. And for the last item of business at Court that afternoon, Their Atlantian Majesties inducted me into the Order of the Pearl.

I'm still a bit stunned by that. Anyway, I'll probably flesh this post out later when I've had more time to wake up.

Cool Beans!

Did you get a scroll, is there one in process, or do I need to get busy on one?

I have a scroll -- [livejournal.com profile] feymaker did it (thanks Daniela!). That's one of the details I hadn't gotten around to including yet...

Hmmmmmm... Maybe I should commission you to do his Pelican scroll (the person I had originally asked to do it no longer plays), instead of just getting Batcock to verum est the promissory [livejournal.com profile] sister_devora and I threw together? The promissory is quite amusing and appropriate in a certain way — but not really what I wanted to commemorate the day!

I'll probably IM, then; I don't think either of us was planning on Sapphire, and for some strange reason, I want [livejournal.com profile] dr_zrfq to have some input here. ;>

As far as I know, this is the only award he's ever had for his music.

Yep, it took him years to find period trombone music!

It's mostly brass choir, or loud band, or semi-loud-band choral accompaniment -- very little solo stuff, which is typical for most Med/Ren brass instruments.

HRM Valharic's spiel (leading up to my name being called) mentioned instrumental music in general, and also singing.

Yes; kingdom-level A&S award; carries a GoA if you don't already have one.

So actually better than a Maunche. We don't have Grant-level awards lke that.

Date: 2007-05-08 08:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dr-zrfq.livejournal.com
Until about 4 years ago it was pretty much the exact equivalent of a Maunche (polling order, carried an AoA). In the spring of 2003 TRM of Atlantia bumped all the existing polling orders to Grant level (and gave GoA's to all members still in kingdom that didn't have a Grant or Patent yet -- which is how [livejournal.com profile] montuos and I, among many others, got our Grants of Arms) and inserted a new set of AoA-level, *NON*-polling orders.

In some ways I'm an Old Phart -- I still consider a Pearl and a Maunche as being much the same thing, just different kingdoms. (Likewise a Golden Dolphin and a Silver Crescent.)
