My Pennsic Panic officially begins today... but some stuff worth mentioning did happen in the preceding week. Monday was spent largely getting things a bit reorganized after the weekend visit. I didn't quite get to the point of uncovering the Pennsic bins. Tuesday I had a chance to eat lunch with [livejournal.com profile] jacylrin whose fairly insane work schedule actually allowed her to take the day off for once. Wednesday we piled into the van and headed over to Bowie, where [livejournal.com profile] herveus and Megan were having an Extended Wednesday Night Gathering -- just up the street from [livejournal.com profile] baron_rorik and [livejournal.com profile] janinas_nest hosting an Extended Baronial At-Home. (Ah, the wonders of having a holiday smack in midweek.) Got to see Rouland and Isabella, who are expecting their first child in November. Also saw lots and lots of other friends, including more with LJs than I can remember. I went to the fireworks display, though perhaps I should have passed and allowed us to go home earlier; nevertheless it was a good show, and when they started playing marches on the PA system I started hum/singing the trombone parts and playing air-trombone while [livejournal.com profile] sskipstress next to me sang the piccolo parts. I hope [livejournal.com profile] mizkismet wasn't too disturbed by it!

I don't recall much of Thursday. The weekend went pretty much as outlined in my previous post. Friday traffic was horrible getting to the other side of Baltimore, but I did get at least *some* time in Philadelphia to talk website with [livejournal.com profile] fabricdragon before picking up [livejournal.com profile] alphaggek from work and heading back to his place. Saturday's DCI show was impressive -- there were a number of elements I hadn't seen before. But when the scores were read, about half of them seemed quite different from what we thought they'd be. In my opinion, the top corps on Saturday were Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, and Carolina Crown.

Yesterday was mostly a travel day, but there was some catching up with [livejournal.com profile] fosveny and [livejournal.com profile] bunnyjadwiga at the Waffle House beforehand, which was good. We also found that one of the gas stations near my parents was selling gas for about 45 cents per gallon LESS than the most common price range in the area. Needless to say, there was a line. It was only a 15 minute wait, and for saving that much I think it was worth it... but I have to wonder where the station got such a deal on their wholesale gas to be able to charge that little and not lose their shirts.

It was a very enjoyable weekend. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] siobhan1214 for getting me to go to the DCI show, and it was wonderful to see you again!
