OK... for various reasons I'm looking for a full-size spare for Dora Sue, our 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon. Right now the best deal I've found is about $75; I'm wondering if I can do a bit better, especially up in eastern PA, but central MD (west of the bay, east of Hagerstown) and northern VA are fine too. In this price range I'm obviously looking for *used* parts.

Wheel specs: plain steel wheel, 14 inch diameter, 5.5 inch width, circular holes (roundels in annulo for those of you who understand blazon) -- if you're interested, go here and look for part number S68688. Preferably black, but I'll take silver if that's what's available. The reason I want this particular wheel is that it matches the others and the existing hubcap doesn't fit anything else.

Tire specs: 185/70R14, prefer blackwall b/c that's what the others are.

Trying to search online has given me a nasty headache and not much by way of results. I've got one auto-recycling place looking (the one in Leesburg) and they'll call me back tomorrow. Any help that friends can provide would be most appreciated.

EDIT 18 Jul 07: Got the wheel in Upper Marlboro and the tire in Manassas. I just wish this hadn't been as complicated as it turned out to be.

There's a tremendous scrapper in the Bowie area.
There's another up in Scranton. Look them up, call them up. Show up in "landgrab" clothes or the price goes up.

Brandywine says no joy. (I think that's the one near Bowie you were probably thinking of.)

Scranton is a bit far out of the way -- 7 or 8 gallons of gas round trip from Allentown. I don't know if their prices would be low enough to make it worth the trip.

Yes, it was Brandywine.
Hmm. I'll check with my boy this week, and if I find it I'll deliver at War Camp.

There might be one at a place in Upper Marlboro; I'll double check on Monday, too late to head over today (and I'll be at [livejournal.com profile] edelweiss68's over the weekend).

Drat. Got a old spare from one of Elder Gosling's old vehicles, but it's a P205/70R15 all black on a 5 lug rim that has twice as many holes as the one in your link. I would have let you have for a 6-pack of decent beer just to get it out of the garage.

Nope, sorry, I need a 14 inch wheel.

Mind you, that size sounds familiar; it might fit one of the minivans. (*goes to check*) ... yes it does! If you'll be home on Wednesday I can hop down the hill and talk to you. (But I might not be able to pick it up until the following week.)

It's been in the garage for several years, another couple weeks isn't gonna hurt. I like Yuengling Black & Tan.

I might be able to get it this coming Monday; if I'm picking up a spare for the Subaru in Upper Marlboro (http://dr-zrfq.livejournal.com/150939.html?thread=432027#t432027) I might as well swing by Bowie too.
