Something by way of a pre-Pennsic update
Jul. 27th, 2007 08:30 amWelcome to
ext_54170,
mrgoodwraith,
scifantasy, and
maccuswell!
Interesting tidbit: It appears that a cousin of mine is now the principal at the elementary school I went to from 1st grade through the middle of 5th grade.
So, two weekends ago I met up with
sskipstress and we rode up to New Jersey, where we spent an enjoyable time at Casa
edelweiss68 /
reverend_s along with Mr. and Mrs.
maccuswell. We were all up there for a Bastille Day barbecue, which was well attended; got to see
loosecanon and
baavgai among bunches and bunches of others I'm now forgetting.
This past weekend I went back up north to Southern Region War Camp up in the East Kingdom portion of PA. My main purpose there was to help
bunnyjadwiga with the Saturday dayboard and then to help
maziemaus with the Sunday breakfast. While I saw many people, I spent most of my time near the kitchen or the dayboard pavilion -- pretty much from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. I did get to spend a little time in the bar with
nazrynn the still-wet-behind-the-ears Laurel, and scribbled on a couple of pages in her vigil book.
Sunday afternoon we had a Pennsic encampment meeting and packed everything up. After that I managed a dip in the pool, which was very much needed; I didn't realize that I was getting a little overheated despite having had enough fluids to keep my back teeth floating all day. Then we went to dinner and back to unpack the vehicles. Since I was hoping for an employment-related phone call (or even an email), I decided I'd better be home on Monday morning, so I headed home despite it being after dark. And I got caught in the backup behind this fatal accident, and didn't get home until 0545. Yes, I said quarter to six in the morning. I was muzzyheaded pretty much all of Monday... and the expected return phone call didn't happen after all. And I've gotten voice mail every time I've tried to call this week too. *sigh*
This past Wednesday
herveus and I remembered how to do a fencepost lashing, and got my tent poles secured on the roofrack of Andrew's car. The rest of my pavilion went inside said car. Now it's Friday morning;
baron_rorik and
janinas_nest may well have headed north and west already, and in about 4 hours I'm off to Bowie, where
mizkismet and I will pile into the car and head for Pennsic. We'll be back some time on Sunday, since we're only going up for the weekend. (I'll be carpooling back to the war with
jacylrin midweek.) I'm almost two weeks behind on LJ and I doubt I'll have much chance to catch up, so if there's anything in particular you want me to check out, please let me know in comments.
**hugs** to everyone, and safe travels for everyone this weekend. Especially safe travels for those of you heading to Pennsic for Land Grab, and I hope to see you there.

Date: 2007-07-27 02:12 pm (UTC)One herald from Drachenwald, Anna Silversparre, is attending Pennsic, and should be around heralds point over the war, waving the Drachenwald flag, reminding people about next year's symposium.
Please chat to her about the event if you see her!
