Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] ext_54170, [livejournal.com profile] mrgoodwraith, [livejournal.com profile] scifantasy, and [livejournal.com profile] maccuswell!

Interesting tidbit: It appears that a cousin of mine is now the principal at the elementary school I went to from 1st grade through the middle of 5th grade.

So, two weekends ago I met up with [livejournal.com profile] sskipstress and we rode up to New Jersey, where we spent an enjoyable time at Casa [livejournal.com profile] edelweiss68 / [livejournal.com profile] reverend_s along with Mr. and Mrs. [livejournal.com profile] maccuswell. We were all up there for a Bastille Day barbecue, which was well attended; got to see [livejournal.com profile] loosecanon and [livejournal.com profile] baavgai among bunches and bunches of others I'm now forgetting.

This past weekend I went back up north to Southern Region War Camp up in the East Kingdom portion of PA. My main purpose there was to help [livejournal.com profile] bunnyjadwiga with the Saturday dayboard and then to help [livejournal.com profile] maziemaus with the Sunday breakfast. While I saw many people, I spent most of my time near the kitchen or the dayboard pavilion -- pretty much from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. I did get to spend a little time in the bar with [livejournal.com profile] nazrynn the still-wet-behind-the-ears Laurel, and scribbled on a couple of pages in her vigil book.

Sunday afternoon we had a Pennsic encampment meeting and packed everything up. After that I managed a dip in the pool, which was very much needed; I didn't realize that I was getting a little overheated despite having had enough fluids to keep my back teeth floating all day. Then we went to dinner and back to unpack the vehicles. Since I was hoping for an employment-related phone call (or even an email), I decided I'd better be home on Monday morning, so I headed home despite it being after dark. And I got caught in the backup behind this fatal accident, and didn't get home until 0545. Yes, I said quarter to six in the morning. I was muzzyheaded pretty much all of Monday... and the expected return phone call didn't happen after all. And I've gotten voice mail every time I've tried to call this week too. *sigh*

This past Wednesday [livejournal.com profile] herveus and I remembered how to do a fencepost lashing, and got my tent poles secured on the roofrack of Andrew's car. The rest of my pavilion went inside said car. Now it's Friday morning; [livejournal.com profile] baron_rorik and [livejournal.com profile] janinas_nest may well have headed north and west already, and in about 4 hours I'm off to Bowie, where [livejournal.com profile] mizkismet and I will pile into the car and head for Pennsic. We'll be back some time on Sunday, since we're only going up for the weekend. (I'll be carpooling back to the war with [livejournal.com profile] jacylrin midweek.) I'm almost two weeks behind on LJ and I doubt I'll have much chance to catch up, so if there's anything in particular you want me to check out, please let me know in comments.

**hugs** to everyone, and safe travels for everyone this weekend. Especially safe travels for those of you heading to Pennsic for Land Grab, and I hope to see you there.

Any chance of you attending the 2008 KWHS?

One herald from Drachenwald, Anna Silversparre, is attending Pennsic, and should be around heralds point over the war, waving the Drachenwald flag, reminding people about next year's symposium.

Please chat to her about the event if you see her!

KWHS 2008 is a possibility, depending on schedules and budget. Though picking that particular weekend (Labor Day in the States) puts it up against a gaming convention run by friends, which we're missing half of this year in order to go to Atlantian Coronation (in our home barony). *sigh*

Nevertheless, it's a tempting possibility. *If* we can afford the money, and time off, to do it.

Ya know, I completely forgot it was Labour day that weekend. Shows how much I've morphed into a Brit.
It was scheduled to avoid peak flights (hopefully) and crowds in London, and close to a cool event in Wales the next weekend.

If you can make it, it'll be very memorable, I promise!

So GREAT to have you up for the weekend, and sorry I didn't catch you at SRWC! :D And the neck/back rubbies were *heavenly*, as usual... :D

Have fun stormin' the castle! :)

Thanks -- and you're very welcome re: the back and neck rubs, glad they helped and we must try it again soon! We'll think of you while we're at the war. Keep those snails goin'!

Was fun being in the kitchen with y'all last weekend :)
I'll miss you this weekend I think as I'm heading there on Sunday. I'll catch you when you get back there.

I'll wave as we cross paths on Sunday, if nothing else. When do you think you'll get to the site?

I plan to leave from here sometimes in the morning, try to not drive like a maniac (yeah, right) so sometimes in the afternoon likely.

What's that measured in [livejournal.com profile] fosvenys? ;->

(And no, [livejournal.com profile] fosveny is not the fastest driver I know; what makes him a useful unit of mesurement is that we *both* know how fast/slow he tends to drive.)

Anyway, we might still be on site when you get there, as I don't know when [livejournal.com profile] mizkismet wants to head for home. But if I don't see you on Sunday, I'll wave at some appropriate point, and see you when I get back!

If there's nobody in the car, I can be worse than him. I tend to drive to the fastest speed the car can handle otherwise I get bored :)
If I have passenger(s) I'm careful.
