So, while I (and many others) were up at Pennsic, some of my friends had birthdays. (Some of them even celebrated them at the War.) Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] tirloch (though sorry you weren't feeling too great that day), [livejournal.com profile] maccuswell, [livejournal.com profile] mailechan, and [livejournal.com profile] lite!

As for my Pennsic? Well, when last I wrote, I was about to head back to the war, with [livejournal.com profile] jacylrin hitching a ride. I'd caught a summer cold on Land Grab Saturday, as did many people -- including the only other person in my camp at the time. By the day of my return I figured it was pretty much over. Wrong... illness returned with a vengeance late Thursday afternoon and evening. The worst part was the hacking cough, which caused my stuffy head to explode in pain *and* was hard enough to bruise my ribcage. (Or pull most of my chest muscles; I can't really distinguish the two in terms of pain. Just plain Ow.) I spent the rest of the war recovering, including a visit to the EMT's to get a perscription for antibiotics (to deal with secondary sinusitis/bronchitis). There was also drama, which was mostly my own fault. There were good points too: mostly in getting to see friends I don't get to see often enough, particularly those who live Too Bloody Far Away, including [livejournal.com profile] liadan_m, [livejournal.com profile] sue_n_julia, Liz, Jeanne Marie, and the Cambion folks from Trimaris and An Tir. And the Known World Choir concert was good; I figured I could hit all the higher-range passages once, and did, and our voices all came together nicely in the end.

From an absolute standpoint this was still my worst Pennsic so far, but so much of that was due to my being sick that I have to discount a lot of the misery. Especially as I'm still convalescing. So I really don't know how to evaluate this war, and will simply say that there were many bright spots and leave it at that.

I'm sorry you got sick and sorry I missed seeing you. (I didn't actually see you in the choir, though it was a huge group and I couldn't see the folks not in the front row.)

I was in the second row from the back, two people directly behind Dani -- not surprising you didn't see me.

I'm sorry I didn't see you, but there were *lots* of people I didn't get to see because I was sick (and trying to recover from sickness in time for the concert, which mostly worked -- at least for purposes of being able to sing the concert).
