(At some point I may 'shop this to feature a Real VW. Not that I've ever owned one. Though I could have bought a squareback once, and would have if I could've afforded to buy both it *and* my Toyota Starlet that fall. Squarebacks make great SCAmobiles...)

Word of Advice....?

Never, ever, EVER buy a Thing.

The Type 181 was made up of so many other VW model parts that replacing those parts is a MAJOR PAIN.

Nope, not a Thing. My friend Kludge thought it would be a neat car to have. I thought it would be *interesting* to have, but too much of a pain to drive and didn't have enough cargo room to make up for its other lacks. I wanted either a (Real) Beetle, for the super-reliability and ease of fixing, or a squareback for the flexible space in the back. (I also considered a Microbus for camping, but it wasn't nearly as good a choice as the other two.) Orange was the preferred color, but that could be dealt with afterwards.
