The Good: Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] rufinia and [livejournal.com profile] cfram! We were at University so I didn't get to wish you two happy on the actual day.

The Bad: Requiescas in pace [livejournal.com profile] vsct_caius. The email conversations were enjoyable; I'm sorry we never got the chance to meet in person.

The "Ugly": Definite put down the drink warning on this one... may also be NSFW: http://pics.livejournal.com/dewhitton/pic/0005kd41

University was a little disappointing for me in that I had almost no chance to catch up with folks. We didn't need to go down the night before, and we weren't ready to leave Friday night so we left Saturday morning... an hour later than we'd aimed for, and two hours later than I'd really *wanted* to leave (but I knew that my desired 0600 departure "wasn't very likely, and we didn't expect it" -- to quote Mr. Guthrie). Got on site about 1100, and effectively spent the next 4.5 hours at the heralds table as we were short on staff (some folks couldn't make it at the last minute). I did take two dance classes in the last two sessions of the day; I took my third class on Gracca Amorosa (I'm getting better, really I am), learned yet another variation on Ly Bens Distonys (is that 3 or 4 now?), and learned the elements of basse-dance (as well as one complete dance, for which I partnered with a very nice young lady from Windmasters). But I had basically no time apart from the heralds table and dance floor; that's one reason I like to get to University early, and I didn't this time. They also shooed us out of the building right quick after the last class session was over, so again there was no time to catch up with friends, and we'd had no chance to ask anyone if they wanted to join us for dinner.

We had dinner and spent the night with two of our longest-running friends in the SCA; like us, they were founding members of Rencester. It was wonderful to have time to spend with them and catch up with each other's lives, and we agreed that we need to get together again *soon* -- certainly less than a year. With a couple of possible Feb/March events in that general area on our calendar, I am hopeful that we can actually follow through on that agreement.
