Home (and online) again

After three days without a net connection, my inbox looked more like a luncheon-meat dump than anything else. I've cleaned that up. Tomorrow I've got a lot of LJ to catch up on, so if there's anything you want me to comment on, please let me know by commenting on this post. (As a result, all comments will be initially screened.)

Short takes:

Emergency trips to Richmond are No Fun At All. *Especially* when I-95 is a parking lot from Springfield to Fredericksburg *at 1 pm on a non-Friday afternoon*. WTF? While I did get the errand done, I had to go downtown to a place I'd never been before, and only got there at *quarter to five*...

[livejournal.com profile] montuos and I *really* liked the general feel of Jamie's General Bean Coffee House in Centreville. We'd first seen it near one of our favorite used book stores in a shopping center, but they moved a few months back to what looks to me like an old general store building in the historic section of Centreville. I suspect return trips are highly likely.

I have to assume that I was dehydrated early Saturday evening. I just don't know how I got that way, 'cos I was guzzling fluids all afternoon (and no caffeine, nor any alcohol until much later).

I must also assume that one thing I said about myself about ten six-odd months ago was *rather* inaccurate; more inaccurate, even, than I had realized later in 2005.

2005, for me, included many good things, though it also included a lot of bad stuff (including one thing in early January that really fucked up the entire year in some respects). So I'll try not to dwell much on the bad parts. 2006 holds a lot of uncertainty; while much of it depends on things beyond my control, I'll do what I can to tip the scales in my favor.
