Get out the brooms -- the CHS Mighty Marching Chargers swept the field at Herndon tonight. Class AAAA Best Drum Majors, Best Visual Ensemble, Best Percussion, and First Place Overall -- and Grand Champion (all classes).

No, it wasn't the best show. But it's still early in the season, weather has forced a lack of practice, and weather also forced tonight's competition onto a parking lot. But at least everyone actually marched their shows -- and we *were* the best out there tonight.

Now the MMC's have three weeks to prepare for the Bands of America regional at Rutgers (Piscataway NJ). Go Mighty Marching Chargers!

Is this Evan?!? This is Rowen's lady. Hi! I am also very much into marching bands.. I used to be drum major for my high school (back in 90-92) and I always try very hard to catch the DCI marching band competitions on TV every year. Congratulations on your win!

Hey, I was just logistics and support squad (that's what Band Parents are for, didn't you know?) -- killernurd was the one marching under a Sousaphone, congrats should go to him and his bandmates, along with best wishes for the upcoming BoA competition at Rutgers.

And yes, this is Evan. Hi Siobhan! We were comparing notes last weekend; I forget who noted the high overlap between heralds and band types. Rouland played tenor sax, forget what Herveus played, I played trombone. (Still do. I even take it out on the football field with the W&M Alumni Band... "Of course we've still got it -- we only take it out once a year!")
