First Day of School (Traditional)

On this date, Wednesday, September 6th, ::mumble:: years ago, I started fourth grade. I'm not sure there are *any* public schools left in the USA that start on the Wednesday after Labor Day.

Ours start the Tuesday after Labor Day still. I think the Kindergarden might start on Wednesday.

I was curious, my high school started a week before labor day. And I bet the teacher really hate that the first week is 5 instead of 3 days.

Don't feel too old, kid.

I just hit the big Five-Oh, today. And I still refuse to either grow up, or get old.

Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)
Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)

Doom and gloom and dark despair
People dying ev'rywhere

On your Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)
Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)

Cities burning in your wake
Like the candles on your cake

Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)
Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)

This one lesson you must learn:
FIRST you pillage, THEN you burn!

Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)
Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)

Mortal vermin cringe in fear
Thank God it's only once a year

Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)
Happy Birth-DAY! (*STOMP*)

When you've reached this age, you know
That the mind is... (er, I forget how this verse ends... gimme a minute, it'll come to me, I'm sure...)

Completely off the topic of your post, but I love the icon. *snickertubassnicker...*

Ain't it great? I broke [livejournal.com profile] killernurd with the icon on first showing it to him. (He played sousaphone in the Chantilly HS Mighty Marching Chargers his senior year.)

Hats off to [livejournal.com profile] cadhla for coming up with the icon, plus a dozen or so others on the same theme. You can find them in this post (http://cadhla.livejournal.com/949315.html); all freely gankable as long as you give proper credit and let her know.
