Live from Chantilly, it's...
Sep. 30th, 2006 11:55 pm...Saturday Night, and time for Weekend Update! (I'm *not* Chevy Chase, and neither are you.)
The aftereffects of the cold are still around in the form of a sore soft palate and that general area where the pharynx meets the throat, but all the soreness is up top towards the nose and sinuses. Snot still refuses to detach itself from the nasal and sinus cavities, so I can't really sing well yet, but at least I'm not getting totally overstuffed as I was before. No sinus headaches recently.
My right arm is still hurting off and on, and my right thumb has had that pins-n-needles feeling since yesterday (Friday).
As for the house: next weekend, The Shop will get cleaned out, and hopefully reorganized along the plan I'd made for it two years ago. By the way, I found out a couple of months ago why the previous owners called that room The Shop. Turns out, the *first* owner of the house (we're the third) was a barber, and after he sold his shop near/at the Pentagon around 1971 or so, he went into semi-retirement: he converted the carport into a barber shop and worked part-time there until selling the house several years later. So while I had always figured that it was the wood shop and metal shop and so forth, in fact that room started its life as a *barber* shop!
Anyway, the sewing room is now almost completely clear of the stuff that had been accumulating there since January, *and* there is a 4 foot by 8 foot patch of the front library that is down to bare carpet (which was piled 3 feet high this morning). This is all in preparation for next weekend's hardcore cleaning of The Shop. Thanks so much to
herveus who was of immense help in getting all this done!
