This story was first told to me in 6th grade, by someone who heard her little brother ask the question. I am given to understand that young kids in the west/southwest area of Allentown PA (the area covered by my dad's church) still ask it every spring.
Southwest of Allentown is the town of Emmaus. (Which appears to be 3 miles from everywhere. But I digress.) Emmaus, like Nazareth and Bath and some others, was named after the Biblical location. Which brings us to the amusing story:
This coming Sunday (3 Easter) is also known as Emmaus Sunday. A parent is telling the children that it's traditional on that day to read the Gospel story (Luke 24:13-35) of Jesus meeting two of his disciples on the road to Emmaus. After a short pause, the younger child asks: "Did Jesus meet them on Lehigh Street or Cedar Crest Boulevard?"
